Gracie Update

Lehu and I got up this morning - after a very sleepless night - and picked up our girl at the ER Vet. We went directly to our regular vet where we learned that we needed to take Gracie to a specialty vet with ultrasound and other equipment and expertise. I had to go to work (grrr), so Lehu took the day off and drove to a northern suburb where there is a Veterinary hospital with specialists and up-to-date equipment.

The liver and kidneys were "ultrasounded" with few noted problems. But, her proteins continue to plummet. They will be doing an endoscopy and biopsy of the intestinal tract tomorrow. She's likely to be in the hospital for three days. Gracie is a really special girl. But are we totally nuts? I won't tell you that the bill is expected to be over $3,000. Oops, I told you. Needless to say, we are feeling very glad that we did not take on a new car loan this year.

Gracie is in good spirits, would prefer more than anything to be at home on her chair (or mine). I'll probably go visit her tomorrow night after yoga. I need the yoga, I think.

Everyone has been so nice! Thank you so much for your kind comments, I am sorry I don't have email for all of you so I can't write individualized acknowledgments.

  1. Grace- showing it under pressure...I love that doggie! Sending you love (I might have to make a casserole, this is really hurting me to see you and Lehu and Gracie in the situation)

  5. Oh, I'm so very, very sorry to hear that Gracie isn't feeling well. As for the "are we crazy comment" the answer is no. I can't even begin to add up what I have spent at the vet over the years and it wouldn't make a difference if I could. They are my kids and have my heart - what's a few dollars?

We are sending slobbery thoughts to you that Gracie will be fine and home soon. g
