There's Been Knitting...

This is the Woven pattern by Thea Coleman from Ravelry. I made a few changes to it...because I felt like it (and because I cannot help myself).

I'm calling it Woven Rivers.

Yarn: KnitPicks Swish DK in Eggplant

This is lovely stuff to work with. Very soft. Nice stitch definition.

I used Options Needles size 6 (I think).

I CO 90 stitches.

My "woven" section is actually a different cable than the pattern called for. I'm just about finished those cute socks for my mom, and just dig that cable so darn much. The hat has a hem, which is really nice. I don't know if I'm going to add the band across the front that the pattern calls for.

I'm also making a scarf from this yarn...not sure what pattern, but likely the same cables... with hems on both sides. So cool!!

This one is a very simple hat.

Yarn: Panda Soy from Crystal Palace Yarns Positive Purple colorway.

#4 Options circs

Used the Magic Loop method. LOVE that method. I really do.

I started a mitten (or a sock) from this yarn too...hmm.

I put a picot hem on it and just knit in the round. I really like the yarn, it's super soft, fingering weight.

And, with all this hat knitting...I decided to join Hat Attack 2. The deadline is tomorrow...I'm really excited about it. The yarn that is recommended (because South West Trading Company is sponsoring the contest with the announcement of their new one: Therapi) is SWTC's Therapi. It sounds like really nice stuff. I will be madly knitting gauge swatches to determine needle size to get the recommended gauge. I'll admit this part makes me a little worried, but it's all in fun anyway.

I'm presently working on the February Lady Sweater from Pamela Wynn (another free Ravelry pattern) for my dear friend who let me measure her at the table outside of Starbuck's on Saturday afternoon. I'm going to be doing long sleeves. I also am on the hunt for some cool square shaped buttons 7/8" - 1" (or a little bigger)...I saw some cute ones at Jimmy Beans Wool but I want to see them in person before I pay $3 each for them.

I've also been hostessing another swap on Ravelry, the Golden Lovers Swap. I'm really excited about this one. I am not participating, somehow it takes the stress out of it for me to just coordinate. I'm a control freak, I suppose.

I'll be posting a Gracie update on her blog soon...we have more good news. It is wonderful. Suffice it to say that she's down to one pill a day on the immunosuppressant medication. We're staying on the homeopathic stuff and the Tylan (an antibiotic) forever.
