Friday Funtime

So, it's finally Friday. I've been busy knitting and coordinating two swaps on Ravelry...one just ended with 100% participation and no major problems! Hooray.

Remember those ripple socks I was making in November 2007? Well, I was knitting so tightly that my hands hurt after a couple of rows. The pattern requires cables without a cable needle and, let's just say that my skills in the cable arena were very scant at the time. I ended up frogging the ones in the first pic, and left the yarn alone for nine months.

The pattern is actually called Gully Wash Socks, by K1P1Design1, Charisa Martin Cairn. It's a free Ravelry download if you are so inclined. I am modifying the design (don't I always?!) so I'm renaming to Ripple Socks. P.S. I'm a dork, I just emailed the designer to tell her I love the pattern.

When I picked up the yarn again, I decided I was going to try the ripple pattern again. I'm really glad I did. It is super fun and easy. You will notice the amazing, beautiful zippered bag. Sarah gave that (and a few others in different sizes) to me for my birthday in May. I LOVE those bags. they are perfect to just stash a project in my tote bag and go. Such an improvement over my previous zip-loc bag system. I think she should start an Etsy shop and make lots more. She makes great tote bags too!

I am two or three repeats shy of finishing the first sock. As you can see I knit one, then the other, did the heels and now I'm working on the ankle. I'm going to add a picot trim (I love picot trims). I think these are either going to be for my mom. The yarn is from her trip to Norway.
