Progress Not Perfection

My Dear Readers:

I have made significant progress on my Blueberry sweater. This morning I actually finished the neckline (I think, I may change my mind, I just don't know yet). I also picked up the stitches on one of the sleeves from the stitch holder (aka scrap yarn) and decided that the sleeve opening is way to big so I will have to pick up then decrease which is absolutely fine with me.

I am really pleased with the look of it so far. A little nervous about the sleeves, especially since there are two of them and therefore are "supposed" to match. We'll see how many "design elements" come into being during the knitting of the sleeves. I will say that I am going to take careful notes. I learned (and I am learning) this the hard way with the blue stripey socks. I wish that I'd taken good notes since now I've cast on the second sock and already frogged it once. Progress, not perfection.

The photo at the right is of the famous Pink Flamingo Knitting Bag. From Chicago Sarah (thanks, girl, I LOVE this thing). The green bag is from the Roquefort Mustard I bought at the Cutting Block when I went for a cooking demonstration. Such a perfect shape. How lucky am I to have told Sarah how much I like flamingos...you can see the whole story on her blog (linked above).

I got some pink woven cotton handle/strap material today with my 40% off coupon at Joann's -- I think I only paid 33 cents for it. Now I will have to actually sew it on for a sturdier handle as we discussed yesterday at the yarn swap, which ended up feeling a little disappointing. Next time we will do a swap at our own group and eliminate the whole frustrating "who's is this" and "no, I don't think I want acrylic." I think most of the stuff on that table was acrylic yuckiness, I'm sure guilty of bringing some.

So, I think that Cynical Knitting Gal's Mom might be joining us for our September gathering! How exciting, for sure. I am looking forward to introducing her to my knitty and crafty friends.

Now, back a few weeks when Mandy and I went to Stitches I actually purchased a little bit of stash. I have a rule about my stash. It must be enough to actually make something of substance. Interesting rule, very open to interpretation...even my the legislator.

Anyway, I got some Jaeger Roma (so soft and pretty) and a ball of Tofutsies. I think I'm going to make baby booties and a hat with the Tofutsies. A friend has put in a request for orange baby things. Make it so!

And finally, I am going to be walking in the Alzheimer's Memory walk on Saturday September 15th (that was my dad's birthday) and if you haven't already donated and want to, (Sarah, ignore this -- you have already given generously and I am very appreciative) please post a comment and I will email you the link to my fundraising page.

Make it a good one!

  1. The sweater looks FAB! I keep a steno pad with me at all times and as soon as I make a chage to a pattern, I make notes. I keep them forever. They come in handy if I ever want to make the item again.

I love the stash additions! I wnat to knwo more about the bags....

Please send me the link for the Walk...

    Have a great week!
