Monday Melodrama (?)

No melodrama, except from Gracie. Now that she's feeling better, her old annoying behavior is back...barking to wake us up, etc. We will need to have a pow wow and not reward that behavior so we can both get some sleep.

If Saturday was productive, which it was, Sunday's blahness cancelled Saturday's productivity.

I got up with the dog at 6 (I know, ouch), but felt fatigued and exhausted most of the morning. I didn't feel like I could or should go back to sleep until 1:30 or 2 when I started to feel my eyelids giving up the fight to defy gravity.

I slept until 5. I missed the graduation party and the softball game. I always say, "if you don't make a decision, it will be made for you" and "inaction is a decision in itself." I guess I decided not to attend either event. When I got up I went to the grocery store (sporting my Cubby Bear Bricks hat). It was chilly yesterday and it is expected to be more of the same today.

I got my reminder from Ticket Master about Avenue Q. We have tickets for Friday night. Friday is my 39th birthday, and as my dad would have said, "entering your 40th year." I'll tell you right now that I would give anything to hear him say that because for some reason I just figured out how that works. Plus, I really miss him. Grief has no end, just spirals, ebbs and flows.

Before the show on Friday we are having dinner at a great place, Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill. I seem to have collected a group of 10 people who are all excited to celebrate May Birthdays...Chicago Sarah has a birthday tomorrow and shhh, I know what her sweetie got her but I'll never tell. Suffice it to say that she is going to be surprised. Other birthdays this week...BarknKnit's Gnat has a birthday on Wednesday 5/21. And, of course, my birthday pal, Mandy (5/23). Happy birthday, gals!

At work we call this week Diva Week, after the 22nd when Gemini becomes the sign...if you knew the people I was talking about, you'd understand. For the past two years I've been a Diva in Training and I think I might be getting there. Is there such thing as a Diva with a dose of humility? That's who I want to be.

The photo is one you may have seen before, it is my ankle tattoo. I look at it often. I realize that elephants with trunks up facing each other means luck. My elephants represent strength and internal power. I'd like to get a knitty/crafty one on my arm sometime...but the design hasn't yet spoken to me. Stay tuned...

  3. I knew you were a gem....my baby sister has the same birthday, but she is just barely mature. She will be turning 39......(compared to my old age).

Happy birthday week to all of your May b-day buddies.

  4. Happy May Birthday from another May girl. Love the tattoo. I've been thinking of getting one for years now, but am too scared. That, plus my mom would have a cow. Yes, I'm 46 and still need approval from my mom... Pathetic!
